Locksmith's Pippin File (6")

If you haven't used a pippin pare shaped file before you are in for a treat.  These files are the preferred files for locksmiths.  They are hard to come by now days, but we have them available for you.  In our research we sampled the other pippin files out there and found that they were not true pippin files.  One was not the proper pippin shape and was probably not swiss/ Italian made.  I can assure you that our pippin files are of the highest quality. We also offer a 4-cut pippin file.

They are what they are, but once you use one, nothing else will do. Review by Seth

I don't know who makes these from one batch to the next. Grobet, Vallorbe, Dick, and there are some that just say "Made in Italy" on them, and those are all very nice. Swiss, Italian, German, files are top of the line. I have a tiny little toothpick sized knife file i have been using for 30+ years, and it still cuts. Pippin files are a cross between a knife file and a round file. You can file in odd profiles & shapes, almost totally unobtainable with any other file. The prices on these are going up and up. They do not specify Swiss number 2 cut or German number 2 cut, but usually it is Swiss number 2. I have been using some Italian wood rasps for about 30 years now too. The same company made Pippin files, and they are both fabulously well made. Whether filing keys, building guitars, making tools, making dies, mold making, musical instrument repair, gun smithing, jewelry making or watch & clock repair, these files are superb items to have in your kit.
